This state historic site preserves the oldest
log meetinghouse in Kentucky. Built in 1804, this crude log structure
was built with 12 corners and in the shape of a cross with 3 doors.
Many historian believe that the 12 corners represent the 12 apostles,
while others believe they represent the 12 tribes of Israel. The
3 doors are symbolic of the Holy Trinity. Many early pioneers,
Revolutionary War Soldiers and Daniel Boone's sister, Hannah,
are buried in the churchyard.
Picnic Areas and a playground are located on the 60 acre site,
as well as a gift shop featuring books on the history of Old Mulkey
and Kentucky handcrafts.
