Old Mulkey Meetinghouse State Historic Site

The Picture of Old Mulkey Meetinghouse State Historic Site
Inside Meetinghouse

This state historic site preserves the oldest log meetinghouse in Kentucky. Built in 1804, this crude log structure was built with 12 corners and in the shape of a cross with 3 doors. Many historian believe that the 12 corners represent the 12 apostles, while others believe they represent the 12 tribes of Israel. The 3 doors are symbolic of the Holy Trinity. Many early pioneers, Revolutionary War Soldiers and Daniel Boone's sister, Hannah, are buried in the churchyard.

Picnic Areas and a playground are located on the 60 acre site, as well as a gift shop featuring books on the history of Old Mulkey and Kentucky handcrafts.
